Summer Undergraduate Program in Engineering Research at Berkeley Computer Science

The Summer Undergraduate Program in Engineering Research at Berkeley - Computer Science in the Interest of Society (SUPERB-CSIS) in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) Department is to prepare and motivate a group of diverse, competitive candidates for graduate study. The research focus of the REU site will be computer science in the context of solving societal problems, including health, national security and technology for underdeveloped countries. SUPERB affirms students' motivation for graduate study and strengthens their qualifications through strong faculty mentoring and challenging research projects.

USCS Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Information Technology

The University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Information Technology (SURF-IT) offers opportunities for both UCSC students and non-UCSC students. SURF-IT provides an intensive and personalized summer program for women, minority, or disadvantaged undergraduates. SURF-IT includes a research experience supervised by a UCSC Baskin School of Engineering faculty member. The 9-week research projects are in areas of IT-based Integrative System Design, including Sensor Systems, Assistive and Rehabilitative Systems, and Computer Systems.

Online Dublin Computer Science Summer School (ODCSSS)

ODCSSS is 12 week undergraduate summer research internship program between the University College Dublin (UCD) and Dublin City University (DCU) Ireland. This program offers a distributed and interdisciplinary research environment at the forefront of ICT research. The theme for 2009 is Technologies for bridging the digital-physical divide: sensing the environment. Each ODCSSS student is engaged in a research project with a faculty member and mentor which provides them an opportunity to experience research.

DHS HS-STEM Summer Internship Program

The DHS HS-STEM Summer Internship Program provides a 10-week summer research experience for undergraduate students majoring in homeland security related science, technology, engineering and mathematics (HS-STEM) disciplines. Students who demonstrate long-term goals aligned with the mission and objectives of the Department will have the opportunity to conduct research in DHS mission-relevant areas at various federal research facilities. The goal of this program is to prepare a diverse, highly talented, educated, and skilled pool of scientists and engineers to address HS-STEM issues.

Eligibility

Cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher on a 4.00 scale averaged over all U.S. institutions attended. Majoring in a homeland security science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (HS-STEM) field with interest in a homeland security research area. Available to participate for 10 consecutive weeks full-time during the summer of 2009. Coverage under a health insurance plan before arriving at the assigned hosting venue and maintenance of coverage during the internship period. At least 18 years of age at the start of the internship period

 

Purdue University Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship

Learn new skills this summer conducting research at Purdue's West Lafayette, Indiana campus. SURF teams undergraduates with a faculty member and graduate student mentor, and introduces them to the research tools used on the cutting edges of science, engineering, and technology.
