DR. MATIRAM PUN is currently working in high altitude medicine research at University of Calgary, Calgary, Canada. Prior to this, hew was working as a researcher at EURAC Institute of Mountain Emergency Medicine of European Academy of Bozen/Bolzano (EURAC), Bolzano, Italy (206 - 2017). He did his graduate school at the University of Calgary, Calgary, Canada with the specialization in Mountain Medicine and High Altitude Physiology (MMHAP). After his completing graduate school, he taught clinical physiology to the undergraduate medical students at Maharajgunj Medical Campus (MMC), Institute of Medicine (IOM), Nepal. He is from Nepal and he went to the medical school at MMC, IOM and developed a breadth of experience in high altitude medicine and wilderness medicine from Nepal Himalayas. He has been involved in a number of high altitude medical research projects. He has served as a referee for mountain medicine, travel and wilderness medical journals. He joined JYI as an Associate Editor (May 2005-March 2008) and rose to Research Editor (March 2008-May 2009) in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Department. Then he was elected to the Senior Research Editor position in May 2009 and served in this position till October 2011. He has been working with the Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal (MMSN) for the past ten years and is involved in numerous executive positions.
