Nicholas Geringer

Psychology and Biochemistry
Queen's University, 2018

Nicholas is currently completing his Honours Bachelor of Science at Queen's University in Canada majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biochemistry. Following the completion of his undergraduate degree, he aspires to pursue an MD and specialize in psychiatry, ideally working in an underserved region in rural Ontario and integrating a holistic approach to treating patients with mental illness. Nicholas recently worked in the Department of Pathology at the Toronto General Hospital where he aided in the development of an error model for immunohistochemistry tests that has since become an integral process of their quality control and assurance protocols. Nicholas has also worked in the public health sector by promoting rural family medicine to new physicians, which stemmed from his volunteer work that led to his completion of all three levels of the Duke of Edinburgh program. In addition, he is involved with on-campus mental health initiatives targeted at reducing stigma and promoting the importance of physical health as it relates to mental health. During his spare time, Nicholas loves playing tennis and basketball, travelling, and reading crime and legal novels.
