DR. MATIRAM PUN is a recent graduate from University of Calgary under the specialization of Mountain Medicine and High Altitude Medicine. He is from Nepal and completed his undergraduate work in chemistry. Then he went to medical school and developed a breadth of experience in high altitude medicine and wilderness medicine from Nepal Himalayas. He has been involved in a number of high altitude medical research projects. He has served as a referee for mountain medicine, travel and wilderness medical journals. He joined JYI as an Associate Editor (May 2005-March 2008) and rose to Research Editor (March 2008-May 2009) in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Department. Then he was elected to the Senior Research Editor position in May 2009 and served in this position till October 2011. He has been working with the Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal (MMSN) for the past ten years and is involved in numerous executive positions.
