Neuroscience, Computer Science
University of Arizona, May 2018
Jenna attends the University of Arizona where she is double majoring in Neuroscience and Computer Science. She’s conducted research in various labs during the past 3 years, including a lab at the Institute of Parasitology in the Czech Republic. Currently, Jenna is finishing her honors thesis project in the Koshy Lab which utilizes an intracellular parasite Toxoplasma gondii to investigate mechanisms driving the development of Alzheimer's disease pathology. Aspiring to combine her passion for technology and biomedical research, Jenna hopes to pursue research in robotics after graduation. She is especially interested in developing artificial limbs that connect directly to the brain or robots which can assist with fine precision surgeries.
Jenna also has a passion for teaching and outreach. During the school year she works as a math and science tutor at the UA Think Tank Tutoring Center, as well as a Section Leader for the Computer Science Department. She’s very excited to be a Teaching Assistant for Girls Who Code, a non-profit organization with the goal of inspiring high school girls to pursue computer science degrees. During her free time, Jenna enjoys hiking, rock climbing, listening to audiobooks, doing art projects and just being silly.
