Jai Kumar Mediratta is a sophomore at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln planning to major in Microbiology and German. His primary research experience involves studying the evolution of the Alpha and Beta hemoglobin gene through various animal models. He also has research experience in studying heart failure in relation to exercise training and renal function. Upon completion of his degree, Jai plans to pursue both an MD and PhD. In his free time, Jai enjoys watching his favorite soccer team, Bayern Münich, or his favorite basketball team, Chicago Bulls. He also enjoys finding new music and watching foreign films.
