Deepika Manoharan

Deepika is a medical student in the UK. She did her first three years of medical school at University of St Andrews (BMedSci Honours) along with a dissertation in virology and is currently completing her final three clinical years at University of Edinburgh (MBChB). She intends to go back to North America for her residency training once she finishes her medical degree. Deepika constantly looks for opportunities to contribute to advancements in medicine, and thus, has taken part in many laboratory and clinical research projects. Her research interests have led her to multiple national and international presentations and publications. In addition to being a copy editor at the JYI, Deepika also holds editorial roles in other scientific and medical journals. Deepika aspires to specialize in nephrology or gastroenterology and would love to be involved in research relating to auto-immunity or stem cells. Besides medicine, Deepika loves to cook, sketch, cycle, do word search puzzles and play basketball.
