Bliss Chang

Biology, Biomedical Engineering Majors; Minor in Chemistry

Bliss Chang is a sophomore at the University of Alabama at Birmingham double majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Molecular Biology. He is working in the labs of Dr. Elizabeth Sztul in Cell Biology and Dr. Saad in Microbiology. In the Sztul lab, Bliss is characterizing the structural determinants for the binding between two key regulators of vesicular trafficking. Meanwhile, Bliss is characterizing the interactions between proteins in apoptotic mechanisms using biochemical and biophysical techniques in the Saad lab. Bliss plans to pursue a MD/PHD at a leading medical university upon graduation. Beyond his research, Bliss loves to teach and serves as the Supplemental Instruction Leader for General Chemistry, a laboratory teaching assistant, and a Princeton Review Test Prep instructor. In his free time, Bliss enjoys ping pong, running, and lifting weights.
