Significant investments have been made in strengthening research capabilities in emerging economies. Yet, scientists from these countries remain underrepresented in the published scientific literature. Without research results being shared, the full benefit in research investment is not being realized. The fact that most international scientific publications are written in English makes it difficult to compete on an equal basis. Prospective authors may be unfamiliar with editorial conventions, face pressure to write in English and be uncertain about which journals to submit to. Manuscripts are also more likely to be rejected at smaller journals if they seem to require more editing than they can afford to provide.
The Journal of Young Investigators (JYI, Inc.) is a non-profit international peer-reviewed online science journal and news source offering a new scientific manuscript editing service for students in developing countries. JYI aims to create high-quality educational experiences for students that encourage active, critical examination of scientific ideas through peer-review, editing and scientific journalism. A group of elite university students with successful publication track-records in submitting to top peer-reviewed science journals including Nature and Science will edit your manuscript and provide constructive feedback specific to your goals. Getting your science published in a peer-reviewed journal is challenging, and even more so coming from emerging regions of scientific excellence. We appreciate these challenges, and hope to encourage and assist you in communicating your science to the world.
If you have any questions about the SciEdit service, please contact the Editor in Chief at eic at removeme.jyi.org.
