Senior Research Editor
The Senior Research Editor manages JYI's Research Department. The SRE receives submissions from authors, assigns them to Research Editors, corresponds with advisors and Associate Editors, and edits final manuscripts prior to publication. The SRE also serves on JYI's Board of Directors, which directs the organization as a whole.

Job Requirements: The Senior Research Editor position is a Board of Directors position, and, like all BOD positions, requires a commitment of at least 10 hours per week. All communication is via internet or phone, so no geographical constraints exist – the SRE may live anywhere in the world. All JYI staff are expected to check their email daily and respond promptly if necessary.

Preferred Skills or Experience: The Senior Research Editor must have demonstrated leadership experience and skills. These are essential, as the SRE must coordinate a staff of between 30 and 100 junior editors. Deadlines are all-important, and the SRE must be able to work in a deadline-driven environment. Ideally, the SRE should have previous experience running a large publication. The most successful SREs have had at least 4 years experience managing a publication. The SRE should also have experience working with professionals, or in a professional environment. Most importantly, however, is commitment and a desire to see the journal advance.
