Development Officer
The Development Officer is responsible for working with the Chief Development Officer to seek out funding from and maintain relationships with sponsors. This may include researching new avenues of funding, contacting new companies or organizations, maintaining relationships with current sponsors, or monitoring and tracking current expenditures. Development Officers also may be asked to help create information packets for potential and current sponsors and help with fundraising drives.
Job Requirements: The Development Officer position, like most JYI staff positions, requires an average commitment of at least 5 hours per week. All communication is via internet or phone, so no geographical constraints exist – Financial Officers may live anywhere in the world. All JYI staff are expected to check their email daily and respond promptly if necessary.
Preferred Skills or Experience: The Development Officer must be creative, comfortable with writing, and willing to make unsolicited contact with companies and organizations. A good Financial Officer should also have past fundraising and advertising experience. Experience or knowledge of online searches for funding is also beneficial.
