Public Relations Department
The Public Relations Department handles all public relations for JYI and recruitment of submissions through professional avenues. It is responsible for developing and updating marketing materials such as PR manuals, posters, brochures, advertisements, and a PR newsletter. In addition, it handles the writing and distribution of press releases and works with the media (including student newspapers) to promote JYI.

PR Officer
The PR Officer works closely with the Director of Public Relations to coordinate public relations and manuscript submissions for JYI. PR Officers will generally work in the following areas: advertising, visual materials development, and creating or maintaining outreach programs. This may include contacting professionals regarding submission recruitment, writing or sending press releases, developing or updating public relations materials, and coordinating with the media (including student newspapers) or outside groups.

Job Requirements: The PR Officer position, like most JYI staff positions, requires an average commitment of at least 5 hours per week. All communication is via internet or phone, so no geographical constraints exist – PR Officers may live anywhere in the world. All JYI staff are expected to check their email daily and respond promptly if necessary.

Preferred Skills or Experience: PR Officers should be people-oriented. They must have great communication skills, be comfortable with reaching out to unfamiliar groups, and have a passion for promoting JYI's mission and broadening its reach. Previous advertising, outreach, or public relation skills are beneficial and preferred.

PR Graphic Designer
The PR Graphic Designer works closely with the Director of Public Relations to coordinate public relations and manuscript submissions for JYI. The PR Graphic Designer will be creating essential visual materials, such as flyers, posters, and handbooks.

Job Requirements: The PR Graphic Designer position, like most JYI staff positions, requires an average commitment of at least 5 hours per week. All communication is via internet or phone, so no geographical constraints exist – Graphic Artists may live anywhere in the world. All JYI staff are expected to check their email daily and respond promptly if necessary.

Preferred Skills or Experience: The PR Graphic Designer must have a creative portfolio which includes, but not limited to, 2D computer graphics. In addition to familiarity with graphics editing softwares (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite), a good communication skill is necessary.
