JYI is currently seeking motivated science undergrads to fill a variety of positions. Editorial, management, writing, reporting, fundraising, and public relations positions are available.
We welcome applications from any current undergraduates. Applicants must have a strong academic background and be proficient in the English language. All applicants for editorial positions must also demonstrate both research and writing experience.

Board of Directors
Chief Executive Officer
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for maintaining JYI's corporate status and its relationships with external bodies, including science foundations, corporate sponsors, and JYI alumni. The CEO is also responsible for coordinating the corporate board members to ensure that the positions work in tandem. Along with the Editor-in-Chief, the CEO is responsible for maintaining a shared vision for JYI and ensuring that the Board of Directors as a whole is working together toward a common goal in accordance with that vision and JYI's mission.

Chief Technical Officer
The Chief Technical Officer acts as the webmaster and is responsible for maintaining and updating the JYI Web site. This includes the development and maintenance of the Web site, Web servers, the Journal Management System (JMS), electronic systems, JYI email aliases, and the formatting of the journal contents for publication. The CTO oversees the non-article (non-journal) content and the design, layout, and graphics on the Web pages. The CTO also serves on JYI's Board of Directors, which directs the organization as a whole.

Director of Human Resources
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for coordinating the Human Resources Department at JYI. The DHR coordinates and assists HR Managers in expanding recruitment, recruiting new and talented staff, and smoothly moving applicants through the application process. The DHR also serves on JYI's Board of Directors, which directs the organization as a whole.

Director of Public Relations
The Director of Public Relations handles all public relations for JYI and recruitment of submissions through professional avenues. The DPR leads and assists a team of Public Relations Officers in developing and updating marketing materials such as PR manuals, posters, brochures, advertisements, and a PR newsletter. In addition, the DPR coordinates the writing and distribution of press releases and works with the media (including student newspapers) to promote JYI.

Financial Department
Development Officer
The Development Officer is responsible for working with the Chief Development Officer to seek out funding from and maintain relationships with sponsors. This may include researching new avenues of funding, contacting new companies or organizations, maintaining relationships with current sponsors, or monitoring and tracking current expenditures. Development Officers also may be asked to help create information packets for potential and current sponsors and help with fundraising drives.

Human Resources Department
Human Resources Manager
The Human Resources Manager works closely with the Director of Human Resources to accomplish the goals of the Human Resources Department. The HR Manager will work not only with the DHR but also the PR Department to make promotional materials and contact faculty, university programs and student groups to recruit both staff and submissions, while maintaining a database of existing contacts. During recruitment drives, HR Managers will assist the DHR in processing applications and in some cases interviewing applicants and making recommendations to the DHR regarding hiring. HR Managers will also update and maintain a staff database and files, and facilitate community building and staff programs. As JYI reaches out to the world, Human Resource Managers will play a critical role in recruiting and managing staff.

PR Officer
The PR Officer works closely with the Director of Public Relations to coordinate public relations and manuscript submissions for JYI. PR Officers will generally work in the following areas: advertising, visual materials development, and creating or maintaining outreach programs. This may include contacting professionals regarding submission recruitment, writing or sending press releases, developing or updating public relations materials, and coordinating with the media (including student newspapers) or outside groups.

Associate Editor: Chemistry
Associate Editors in Chemistry perform one crucial function: they review manuscripts submitted to JYI in the Chemistry fields. Each month, an Associate Editor is assigned a manuscript to review. The Associate Editor reads through the manuscript, making notes, and then meets with his/her Faculty Advisor to discuss the paper. Based on their evaluations, Associate Editors recommend to their Research Editors whether or not the manuscript should be accepted for publication.

Research Editor
Research Editors run small portions of JYI’s Research Department under the direction of the Senior Research Editor. A Research Editor’s responsibilities include the reviewal, revision, and publication of original research manuscripts.
Research Editors are also responsible for managing and directing the work of JYI’s Associate Editors. A Research Editor must enforce high standards for reviews, deliver on deadline, and help Associate Editors who encounter problems. In this way, a Research Editor is much more than an editor – a Research Editor must be a leader who actively guides his/her team.
Research Editors are often assigned extra projects in addition to their usual work. For example, Research Editors are often asked to help develop AE training materials or to participate in submission drives.

Career Research Editor
Career Research Editors are responsible for training, managing, and maintaining communications with Career Researchers. A Career Research Editor provides advice and guidance to the Career Researchers as they write their articles, coordinates the article review process, and edits articles before they are sent to the Director of the Career Center (DCC) for final approval.

Science Career Researchers
The recently launched Science Career Center is looking for Career Researchers to report on science careers in all fields, including academia, industry, government, science communication and teaching. This is an exciting position which requires the researcher to network with professionals in all fields, interview people nationally and internationally, gather statistics and career facts to write informative articles for college students all over the country. No experience is necessary and CR's will be officially trained in science journalism for this position. The SCC is collaborating with prominent leaders in science, such as Science magazine, so this is an opportunity to network and learn valuable skills while helping your colleagues.

Programmer
Programmers will work with the Chief Technical Officer to develop new sections of the JYI website such as the Science Career Center. Programmers will play a key role in bringing flexibility to the JYI website by creating modules and other elements to improve user experience. Programmers will also ensure that optimal coding powers the JYI site.
