01 June 2009 -
Each month, the
Staff Member of the Month award is given to an outstanding staff members who has shown a strong commitment to JYI and to the promotion of undergraduate scientific publication. This June, the award goes to
Yangguang Ou , a News and Features editor.
Yangguang Ou first joined the Journal of Young Investigator as a science journalist in spring of 2008 and was recently promoted to the honor of the News & Features editor position. She currently attends Florida State University and is double majoring in biochemistry and chemistry while pursuing a minor in both physics and creative writing. JYI not only helped develop a passion for writing that she always held but also furthered her scientific communication skills. Working with all of the other science journalists as well as the editors was truly an incredible learning experience and she hopes to take all she has learned with her in her future pursuits. Yangguang is looking forward to bigger and better things as she continues her work with the JYI in the coming years and she truly does appreciate being part of the JYI family. She is truly grateful for all of the doors opened to her and hopes to attend graduate school one day to help find a cure, or at least a step closer to it, for cancer.
